Is Mabuza’s call for unity being upheld?

Mpu Premier David Mabuza

The SACP (South African Communist Party) and Cosatu (Congress of South African Trade Unions) in Mpumalanga have endorsed Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa as their preferred candidate for the African National Congress (ANC) top job, against the wishes of the ANC provincial chairperson David Mabuza, who has called for unity ahead of the party’s National Elective Conference in December.

Nehawu’s December Mazibuko told the SABC News that,  “we can’t have a unity that says Jacob Zuma must be allowed to appoint his successor, and in doing so he looks here in the family, and says here is my successor…” The Steve Tshwete ANC Sub Region also contradicted party Chairperson David Mabuza in his call for unity.

Mabuza has called for unity and uncontested leadership in December. The same call has been sold as the position of the ANC in Mpumalanga.
