THE Mpumalanga ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has taken a decision to redeploy the executive mayor of the Nkomazi Local Municipality (NLM) Cllr Thulisile Khoza, as mayor of the municipality. This comes after a PEC meeting held at eMalahleni on March 17, 2018.

The decision taken by the PEC follows a report by the Provincial Working Committee (PWC) after visits to all municipalities in the province. After viewing the report, the PEC resolved on recalling mayors of four municipalities and deploying other members as the new mayors.

According to a report posted on social media, the PEC decided to recall the senior trio of the NLM who allegedly “did not get along”. The decision was taken to ensure proper working relations and ensure that service delivery as a result of the alleged “internal feud” would not be compromised.

The PEC redeployed Khoza to the Provincial Legislature and Cllr Johan Musa Mkhatshwa deployed as the new mayor of the NLM. Cllr Sphiwe Mashele is the new Speaker of the Nkomazi Council, whilst former Speaker Cllr Million Shongwe was redeployed to the Ehlanzeni District Municipality with the former Chief Whip, Cllr Simon Mabuza as the MMC.

Councilor Emmah Ngcanethis is the new Chief Whip for NLM. All redeployments came into effect as of 18 March.
