A HIKER was airlifted to hospital yesterday morning after he fell and got injured while hiking in the Tweefontein Plantation outside of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. ER24 paramedics and  other medics were called to the plantation.

“Once at the plantation, rescue workers hiked for two hours to the patient’s location. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries,” said ER24. “Unfortunately, the man was unable to be removed at the time due to fading light and far distance to the ambulance.”

After stabilising the patient through the night, paramedics airlifted him in the early hours of the morning to Nelspruit Mediclinic, said ER24.
