Belfast farmers in court after alleged assault

THE case against  two Belfast farmers, who are facing attempted murder charges after they allegedly attacked farm dwellers with a hammer, has been postponed to next week (June 8). Salidoor Jacobus and William Wilkinson are to appear in the Machadodorp District Court.

Jacobus is currently out on R 6000 bail and Wilkinson on R3000. They have to report to their nearest polices station every day and they are also not allowed to enter the farm where the incident happened. National Prosecution Authority’s (NPA) provincial spokesperson Monica Nyuswa, said: “The brothers are facing two counts of attempted murder, one count of common assault and one count of pointing a firearm,” said Nyuswa.

It is alleged that the first two victims Siyabonga Magagula (18) and Thabo Lukhele (32), who were reportedly employed by one of the suspects, were assaulted with a hammer and had to be taken to hospital after he sustained injuries. It is said that brothers assaulted two otherr victim,s Jabulani Sibiya (60) and Thamsanqa Thabethe (32) who lived on the farm.
