A MPUMALANGA bogus lawyer Kholisiwe Zephana Sithebe (43) will spend the next five years in jail after he was found guilty of fraud in Middelburg Regional Court. He stood trial on 12 counts of fraud and forgery of qualifications.
“ In March 2011, Sithebe impersonated a conveyancing lawyer and in the process deceived clients to deposit money into his bank account under the pretense of facilitating transfers of title deeds which never materialised,” said Captain Deneo Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the Hawks in the province.
Sekgotodi said the case was transferred to the Hawks Mpumalanga Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit for further investigation and the accused was arrested in September 2011. The sentence was suspended for five years on condition that Sithebe repays R1 54100.00 to the complainants before 31 December this year.
