TWO dagga dealers were arrested in Mankayane with counterfeit money to the amount of  E200 000 which was in South African currency.

Fanele Jele (27) from Pongola in South Africa and Mthembeni Simelane (25) of Hlatikulu, feeling flush, started throwing their cash around by buying large quantities of alcohol at various bars in Mankayane. They continued their drinking spree in Emvuleni and Sodelani. In meantime, bar owners realised it was fake money and called the police.

Jele and Simelane had already appeared at the Manzini Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Mthokozisi Dlamini. Bail was opposed and the men are now facing contravention of the Immigration Act as they were in the country illegally.

According to information, especially from tourist operators and transporters, fake money is regularly used to pay for services, especially at Pigg’s Peak. Traders should be alert when customers pay with either R100 or R200 SA notes.
