Female cop, husband die in a shootout with robbers

A FEMALE police officer stationed at Calcutta and her husband died during a shootout at their home in Angin Court, Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga on Saturday.

It is alleged that Sergeant Thembisile Ndlovu (42) and her husband Jabulani Khoza(40) were sleeping in their house when three unknown men gained entry through a window.

” Once they were inside, a shootout ensued and Ndlovu managed to shoot one of the attackers who died at the scene. The other two suspects opened fire at the couple, instantly killing the sergeant,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi.

Her husband was rushed to the hospital by neighbours who reportedly responded after hearing the gunshots. He was later  died in hospital.

According to the police the suspects made off with the couple’s Chevrolet Spark, but it was later recovered within the Bushbuckridge area.  Anyone with information is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Nomsa Mkhwanazi on 082 469 1250 or the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111
