THE South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has urged social grant beneficiaries to go and get their new SASSA cards. It is available at SASSA local offices, identified pay points and South African Post Office (SAPO).
“A new payment card work like any other electronic transaction card with better conditions and advantages. We are aware that there are people who try to confuse beneficiaries to switch to unknown cards which don’t belong to SASSA,” said SASSA provincial spokesperson Senzeni Ngubeni.
“Beneficiaries must note that if they don’t use the official SASSA card, the agency will not be able to protect them from illegal deductions,” he said.
The new card gives the beneficiary a freedom to enjoy their free cash withdrawals at shop tills each month, one free cash withdrawal at a Post Office each month, unlimited free swipes to pay for shopping at tills, one free replacement card, and unlimited free pin resets at your SASSA branch, said Ngubeni.
In order to protect social grant beneficiaries, SASSA has ensured that there will be no illegal deductions on the new card, only the declared funeral cover which is not more than 10% of the social grant.
