IFP stands up for Etienne’s jailing


In a strongly worded statement, the IFP has, after the jailing of a Mbombela journalist who exposed election corruption, expressed its concern over the inability to keep journalists safe. In the statement, the party makes it clear that “the police department does not care about the fate of people who expose political corruption.”

It also highlighted what is deemed to be the political killings in Kwa-Zulu Natal and said the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele and SAPS are “grossly careless.”

ASA reports that the latest victim is someone believed to be a witness in the murder case against Newcastle mayor Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba. This person who was gunned down in Newcastle on Sunday. The IFP has called on the government to take decisive action to address these “senseless killings.”
