During a sitting of the Pretoria High Circuit Court at Breyten in Mpumalanga, the killer of a 21-year old woman was sent to jail for life.

Mshumayeli Moses Galela (39) will spent most of his life behind bars for the barbaric  murder of 21-year-old Siphesihle Rachia Kamwendo in 2015 at Sakhile near Ermelo. At the time Galela was out on bail after attacking the victim earlier. According to court records, he gained entry into her home through a window and attacked her with a panga, killing her. He was re-arrested in Morgenzon.

Not only was a life sentence handed down, he was also given seven years for breaking and entering as well as three months for assault. The sentences will run concurrently. Police in Mpumalanga welcomed the sentences and believe it will serve as a deterrent to other potential offenders who have no regard for human life.
