Listeriosis scare – now its Woolie’s turn

Woolies are calling on all their clients to return a frozen rice mix bought from them for a full reimbursement.

This comes after warning that the rice mix sold at Woolworths Food Stores could be contaminated. The rice mixture with sweetcorn is imported from Hungary and the factory from which it hails, has been identified as a potential source of a listeria outbreak in Europe. It has been removed from the shelves after an international recall.

So far tests by Woolworths have shown that the rice is above board, but the sweetcorn may be a problem and the European Union ordered all stock to be cleared from shops.
