Mpumalanga’s Livestock Development Programme, Masibuyele Esibayeni (MESP) has been relaunched at Amersfoort, Mpumalanga Highveld on Friday.
During the launch, Mpumalanga Agriculture MEC Vusi Shongwe handed a set of 26 sheep to Lucas Lithiba.
“Since the initial launch of MESP in 2011, initial projects were based on the Nguni Cattle Development. Over the years the programme grew in leaps and bounds to also include small stock like goats, pigs, and sheep,” said Shongwe.
Shongwe encouraged the department not to leave the youth out of this programme, as they were the future of agriculture.
In all, 15 projects from across the province that met the qualifying criteria are receiving cattle, sheep, goats, and goats in this financial year, said Shongwe.
