A former SANDF member accused of killing his girlfriend, a soldier stationed in Middelburg, Mpumalanga is expected to appear in the Breyten Magistrate Court, Pretoria next week and one more woman in the country dies at the hands of a loved one.
Ezekile Motsumi Thipe (29) was based in Pretoria is facing charges which include murder and defeating the ends of justice.
“Thipe is accused of suffocating the woman until she died and drove to Volksrust with her corpse in the boot of her own car. He abandoned the body on the Vlakpoort Road under the bridge before setting it alight and then he later abandoned the car at a local shopping mall,” said National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Monica Nyuswa.
Nyuswa said Thipe and the victim were preparing to get married when the alleged killing took place in 2016.
Thipe was arrested after the woman’s mother tried to call her with no success. She later reported her missing. Police investigations led to Thipe.
