The two week long strike that left a schoolchild hospitalised after being shot and saw three schools closed down, has finally come to an end.

Classes at schools have returned to normal in the Middleplaas community, which saw angry parents demanding proper ablution for learners of Mpumelelo Primary School after MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Sasekani Manzini addressed the community. The community has been reassured that all the old pit toilets in which a learner fell will be demolished.

Manzini said the school will be provided with enough water to utilise the ablution facilities donated to the school in 2015. The school was unable to make use of the toilets because of water shortage in the area. Construction and upgrading of the school’s infrastructure will begin in the 2018/19 financial year.
