Tonga police and other law enforcement agencies have intercepted four vehicles that were about to be smuggled into Mozambique this morning.

A joint operation comprising the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the South African National Defense Force ( SANDF) is making life difficult for the criminals who are allegedly transporting stolen vehicles, dagga and other illegalities into Mozambique and Swaziland.

“Law enforcers who were patrolling  the N4 towards Komatipoort in the early hours of this morning have managed to seize four stolen vehicles including two Toyota Hilux bakkies which were stolen in North West, one Ford Ranger and a Nissan UD truck that was stolen from Soweto in Gauteng,”said Tonga police spokesperson Capt Magonseni Nkosi

Missing one of these?

Nkosi said all the drivers of the vehicles managed to run away when they saw that the police were gaining on them. He said the suspects left the keys inside the vehicles and ran into the nearby mountains and disappeared.
