Mpumalanga Hawks are investigating a case where a former director of a now defunct security company defrauded his employees a total of R270 000. William Kgomu (53), a director of a now-defunct security company known as E1 Gondor Trading Security was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Unit on Tuesday for the alleged fraud.

Kgomu is currently out on a R2000 bail and he is expected to appear again on April 9 in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court.

“He allegedly deducted over R270 000.00 from his employees and failed to submit the funds to Provident Fund Scheme.

When the company shut down in 2017, the employees discovered that nothing was due to them, as they were never registered for the said fund,” said Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Captain Deneo Sekgotodi.
