Protesting taxi drivers are to take to the roads again on Friday. They are expected to give a memorandum to David Mabuza, premier of Mbombela, airing all their grievances.
A strike was done by the SANTACO (regulatory body of taxi industry) members, last month, but they felt that the government did not address their concerns adequately. They want scholar transport to be done by locals and are protesting to it being outsourced to businesses outside the province.
It is, once again, expected to bring Mbombela to a standstill. People are urged to avoid the area as much as possible. Let us hope that this time around the protest will be a peaceful one.
