POLICE, residents and other stakeholders are gathering at the cemetery in Pienaar outside Mbombela, where they will be exhuming the body of a 17- year-old boy who was allegedly killed by his family. The body of Lungile Nkosi will be exhumed in order to determine what exactly caused his death.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mthsoli Bhembe has confirmed this morning that the police were at the scene. “Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court has issued an order that the body of the boy, believed to have been slain during a beating should be exhumed this morning. The order follows after police launched a murder probe following the death of Nkosi who was allegedly assaulted by his parents and two brothers in Pienaar last week,” said Bhembhe.
According to information at police disposal, the four family members allegedly accused Nkosi of stealing his sister’s cell phone. They reportedly have beaten him to death and the family never reported the matter to the police. They called undertaker and claimed that the boy died of natural causes.
Concerned members of the community alerted the police then the investigation was launched and the suspects were arrested. “The suspects appeared in court yesterday, charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice. They were remanded in custody and will reappear at the same court tomorrow.”
