MPUMALANGA Community Safety, Security, and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane sent condolences to the families of four motorists who died in two separate crashes this morning. One of the deceased is a Mpumalanga SAPS general who lost his life when the Ford sedan he was traveling in collided head-on with a Toyota bakkie.The crash occurred at about 11h40 on the N4 Schoemanskloof Road near Bambi Hotel. It is reported that the driver of the Toyota bakkie also died on the spot.
“We learnt with shock of the passing of the general, it is a great loss for the Security Cluster.The cause of the crash is yet to be investigated,” said Ngomane.
In another incident this morning, two motorists lost their lives on the N4 Toll Road between Alzu and Wonderfontein.It is alleged that a bakkie hit the trailer of a truck in front of him. it The trailer unhooked from the truck and landed in oncoming traffic. Both drivers of the bakkie and truck got out of their vehicles to inspect the damage when two sedans ran over them, killing them instantly. The drivers of the sedans sustained slight and serious injuries respectively.
