VARIOUS communities in Nkomazi would soon have water restored to their areas, but in the meantime, until the reservoir is full, ten water tankers would supply the most urgent need. Water pumps and panels were damaged when a fire broke out at the pump station and destroyed the equipment. These were fixed last week.

Villages affected included Jeppes Reef , Schoemansdal, Buffelspruit, Driekoppies , Middleplaas, Schulzendal, Boschfotein  Aniva, Magogeni and Langeloop .

Residents from affected communities said they thought the situation had been caused by a burst pipe, but after not having water to bath or drink,  realised the problem was much bigger and affected entire villages,”  said Schoemansdal resident,  Mandla Sambo.

“I had to go to work without bathing for two days because there was no water and I only had drinking water which was inside the refrigerator,” said another Driekoppies community resident.
